PORTFOLIO

Classical Indian Dance Kathak

Kathak (Hindi: कथक), one of the eight forms of Indian classical dances, originated from India, traces its origins to the nomadic bards of ancient northern India, known as Kathakars or storytellers. Its form today contains traces of temple and ritual dances and the influence of the bhakti movement.

North Indian Classical Vocal

Jyotika has specialized in one of the most important styles of Classical Music in North India: Khyal or Khayal. Its name comes from a Persian/Arabic word meaning "imagination". Khyal is associated with spiritual and romantic poetry and allows the performer great freedom of expression through the use of rich ornamentation in the Alaap, and intricate virtuosic melodic passages in the faster parts of the Raaga.

Yoga

Yoga is a spiritual discipline based on a subtle science, which focuses on bringing harmony between mind and body. It is an art and science of healthy living. The word ‘Yoga’ is derived from the Sanskrit root ‘Yuj’, meaning ‘to unite’. As per Yogic scriptures, the practice of Yoga leads to the union of individual consciousness with that of the Universal Consciousness, indicating a perfect harmony between the mind and body, Man & Nature
